How To Get Started In Car Racing?
Hey, im 15 and have always been interested in racing, be it F1 or on video games. Ive Go-kart raced a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time, Inspired (or more rather, given me an extra push) by lewis hamilton’s win i was wondering how would i get involved in racing? or am i even to old to start?

get yourself along to the next msa track meeting and ask to speek to the race marshall ,he will give the advice you need,at 15 you will be looking to get into junior blue kart ,these karts are alot faster than your indoor kart,,you will also need to apply to the msa for a race licence, and you will also need spend a fair bit of money to get yourself started, good luck
The people that have responded so far are correct. I am 20. I thought I could relate to you a little. I don’t know anything about you, but when I was 13 I really wanted to start racing, like you said. I joined SCCA (sports car club of america – http://www.scca.org). To start, I began autocrossing (you know around a race course designed out of pylons for a time trial) a go kart. I did that for 3 years and won the championship all 3 years, becoming the first person under 16 to win the Governer’s Cup Trophy. You can have a lot of fun with it. Anyway, now I race a real racecar in SCCA road racing all over the country. You can start with go karting, but don’t think that this is necessary to become a racer. Whether you want to became a go karter, road racer, F1 driver, or NASCAR driver. A great way to start would be in SCCA.
If you would like more info on SCCA or becoming a racer, email me at Blackhawk75@sbcglobal.net. If you are serious about becoming a racer, I can help.
Good Luck and have fun.
Your not too old to start, but you are “older” than most would be.
motor raceing costs alot of money, although you can just go and rent a go kart for abit, you’d never get anyone to sign you up off that.
people who do it, live and breath it. it’s a really hard thing to get into.
“You can take it at college/uni now” going to college won’t get you signed as a driver, but it will give you the chance to be on the team.
you can however take part in rallys when you’re abit older and pass your test, all you need is a rally spec car, and some guts
every now and again, karting places hold racers and trils to take drivers to the next level.
it might be worth asking your local
YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD !!!!!
LOOK AT TIAGO MOTERO HE STARTED KARTING AT 21 AND LOOK WHERE HE ENDED UP F1. I KNOW HES LEFT BUT STILL
OK GO DOWN A NEAR KART TRACK AND HAVE A LOOK AT SOME OFF THE DRIVERS DOWN THERE .
ASK PEOPLE THE COST AND HOW IT WORKS BECOUSE CHOSING THE RIGHT KART IS IMPORTANTE , GET YOUR EYE TO HAND CO-ORDINATION RIGHT SO PLAY ALOT OF TABLE TENNIS OR EVEN COMPUTER GAMES.
OK WHEN YOU HAVE DONE WITH KARTING YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING TO MOVE TO CARS I SUGGEST RENULT MOTORSPORT UK-IT HAS PREDUCED SOME OFF THE BEST DRIVERS IN THE WORD RG:LEWIS HAMILTON-KIMI RIKONEN-HEIKI KOVELINEN.
THEN AS YOU GET BETTER MOVE TO FORMULA 3 UK.
IF UR GOOD ENOUGH
NOW THIS IS WHERE IT GETS THOUGH,YOU MIGHT GET PICKED BY A TEAM IN GP2 OR EVEN F1 YOU NEVER NO OR EVEN TOURING CARS ANY TYPE OFF RACING
AND COST IS A PROBLEM IT WILL COST YOU BUT I THINK ITS WORTH IT AND THATS WHAT IM GOING TO DO AND 1 MORE THING IT MIGHT SEEM EASY BUT BELIEVE ME ITS NOT YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD TO BE PICKED.
HOPE THAT HELPD YOU.
Never too old to do anything. Start by looking into a racing school.http://www.iwannagoracing.com/Open_Wheel…
go to your local track, ask them about the different divisions they have. If they have one you are interested in, get some more information on it, and get a car
just join a karting club!
